David, Thank you for the beautiful paddle. Besides it's looks, it is very light and a practical 2-piece traveling companion. Your workmanship really shows. Going to take it out on its maiden voyage this weekend in Malibu, then onto Puget Sound in June, and Glacier Bay National Park in August. I ordered a new paddle from you to replace my old Greenland paddle, and you send me a paddle that I don't think I will be able to use. No, there isn't anything wrong with the paddle except it appears to be a work of art. Do you really expect me to take it out,throw it in the back of my truck,and then paddle over oysters and sandbars with it? It will probably be a show piece at least for awhile. I can't wait to show it to the rest of the members of my paddling club. The vice president is a professional paddle maker and he doesn't build anything close to my paddle. David P W _____________________________________________________________ Hi Dave Just wanted to let you know of a recent trip I took in my 13' Phoenix Sit on top off Honeymoon Island here in Fl. I had been running out to the gulf when I noticed the wind starting to pick up a bit more than expected. I decided to break off and turn for the beach. I turned and started working against the wind and tide in a nasty short, wet chop. I was washing the deck and cockpit with every wave. I had strapped on your Greenland paddle on my port side as I had intended to get in some more practice with it to develop my stroke. Well you guessed it. My regular paddle started to wear me down and I was starting to get concerned as I was running out of steam with ways to go.. I switched off to the Greenland paddle and once I got into the groove it made all the difference in the world. I was underway and making way. When I did hit the beach and I've got to say I was a happy camper and what's more I understood the Greenland paddle. Its not just pretty. It really works. Again my thanks and keep it up. I've had it out on the Willamette River several times, and I've also been using it to learn how to roll. I paddled it today with my surf ski. Took a bit of adjusting to unlearn 3 years of paddling with a 60- degree feather, but I made progress. I paddled my standard 5-mile time trial course, but didn't check the time since I expected some flailing. On the return leg, I glanced at my watch, and was surprised at the finish that my time seemed to be about the same as I got with my Euro paddle with the same boat, same conditions several days ago.
